Start Bar in downtown St. Louis, Mo., an arcade bar that was sanctioned by the city last month for failing to follow Covid-related measures, recently announced it would be voluntarily closing up shop until further notice.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the business made the announcement on social media, saying the closure was “due to the current restrictions placed specifically on the bar and nightclub industry in St. Louis.”
The post continued: “We are not sure when we will be able to reopen and we are concerned for the future of downtown St. Louis as a whole. We’re also concerned for everyone who has worked so hard to build this city up to the strongest it’s been in years.”
On July 29, the bar and other city businesses (including an adjacent restaurant-bar operated by the same owners of Start Bar) were ordered to close for two weeks for violating the city’s coronavirus measures – chiefly unmasked patrons.
