Albany Bowl, which had been closed since March 2020 due to California Covid restrictions, shut down permanently in December after 71 years in business in the city of Albany, Calif.
According to KTVU, the bowling alley could no longer afford to pay its bills after nine months without bowlers on the lanes. Host of some 800 birthday parties a year, the bowling center was also a popular hangout spot for college students from the nearby UC Berkeley campus.
A dizzying number of well-wishers and fans of the bowling alley took to Facebook and Instagram to share many memories of the venue.
