David Cohen, president and CEO of Firestone Financial, recently won a Boston Future 50 award from SmartCEO Magazine. Cohen and Firestone were recognized for their entrepreneurship and dedication to their customers, and will be profiled in SmartCEO to celebrate this achievement.
In accepting the award, Cohen lauded the efforts of his staff, who he says work to develop expertise and relationships that continue making the company successful. Cohen also talked about the his role as CEO.
“The biggest challenge was to hire employees who wanted to work for a company whose product – financing – is considered boring,” says Cohen. Firestone hired a human resource director and implemented a hiring tool called the Predictive Index that evaluates candidates around four key factors to help overcome this challenge. Both steps have improved the company’s hiring process significantly, according to Cohen.
