Gold Coast International chief Marc Haim recently came across an eBay listing for an old Chicago Coin Slap Shot Hockey game for sale at $35. Part of the listing was the letter (shown here) from Marc’s old R.H. Belam Co. signed by his late father Vic and dated January 1972. Apparently, the eBay seller kept it and wanted to show potential buyers how much the novelty game originally cost.
“We at Belam were export distributors for the long-defunct Chicago Coin, then led by Avron Gensburg, at that time,” wrote Marc. BTW: Notice the solicitation to place orders by cable (telegram), now an archaic system, but at that time, the surest form of rapid international communication.
